What is the Zoom Cloud Meeting App?
The Zoom Cloud Meeting app allows you to connect to Zoom meetings and stay in touch no matter where you are as long as you have an internet connection. And, of course, if you have a supported iOS or Android device.
Zoom App Features
The Zoom mobile app does have most of the features of the service. Among the things that you could do via your mobile app are:
- Start, join, and schedule meetings.
- Record meetings. Only cloud recording is available through the mobile app, and you need to have a paid plan to record meetings to the cloud.
- Screen sharing.
- Virtual backgrounds.
- Co-annotations and whiteboarding.
- Siri controls (iOS).
- Fingerprint authentication.
- Safe driving mode.
Not only that but since most modern devices have front cameras, it’s very easy to get started with a Zoom meeting on mobile.
Requirements for Zoom App
If your mobile device is just a couple of years old, you should be able to use the Zoom Cloud Meeting app. With that being said, Zoom does put forward some requirements that your device and internet connection need to satisfy.
Internet connection: You need to have 3G or 4G/LTE connection or Wi-Fi (a/g/n/ac). The bandwidth requirements are as follows:
- 1-on-1 video: you need 1.2 Mbps up/down for HD video, 600 kbps up/down for high-quality video.
- Group video: you need 600 kbps/1.2 Mbps up/down for high-quality video, 1.5 Mbps up/down for gallery view.
- iOS 7.0 or newer (iPhone 4 or newer, iPod touch 4th generation or later, iPad Pro, iPad Mini, iPad 2 or later, iPhone 3GS).
- Android 4.1 or newer.
Processor requirement: The Zoom Cloud Meeting app requires a single-core 1 GHz processor or better, which is already satisfied by modern Apple devices and the vast majority of Android devices.
Since modern Android and iOS devices are pretty powerful, your main bottleneck will likely be your internet connection. Make sure that you have a sufficient data plan or that you are using a fast Wi-Fi network. But you may want to avoid using public or unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks due to the safety risks associated with them.
Zoom Cloud Meeting App for iOS
The Zoom mobile app for iOS can be downloaded from the App Store. Or you may just launch the App Store and search for “Zoom Cloud Meetings”.
Once you download the app, go ahead and sign in to join and start meetings, as well as to use the other functions available. To get started, check out our guides on starting a meeting, joining a meeting, as well as on scheduling and recording.
Zoom Cloud Meeting App for Android
The Zoom app for Android can be downloaded from Google Play. You may again just launch Google Play and search for “Zoom Cloud Meetings” to find the app.
While the interface of the Android app is a bit different, it does have the same functions as the iOS app. So if you have both an Android and iOS device, switching between the different versions of the Zoom Cloud Meeting app shouldn’t be problematic.
